Going to the Beach

We leave tomorrow morning! To the Beach, here we come! I made this vase yesterday inspired by my longing to put my toes in the sand and stare at the water, listen to the waves, and watch the dolphins jump and play.. It is called Driftwood and Ocean.

We will be spending the night on the Padre Island National Seashore. The girls and my first beach camping trip. My husband grew up doing this, so we are in good hands. Jack is coming too, and I can't wait to watch him run at full speed into the water. We will come back home with Jack stinky and exhausted. Heck, we will probably ALL be stinky and exhausted.

Where I Work

I work in the dining room. If you can see where Jack is looking, well, that is our kitchen. There is also a table in there, so, I have not yet totally taken over the house. ; )

I was inspired by Nancy's Studio Tour post. She inspired me enough to clean up some of my mess and show you my space.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to move photos in blogger anymore.. I used to be able to write between pictures, and now I can't figure it out. What am I missing...I am really not up to all of this computer hijinx.

Anyway.. so, my completed vases are all over the house.. in cabinets here, on shelves here..I have a cabinet where I keep my completed canvasses and wood boards, but, that space is quickly being outgrown. I will have to come up with a plan B very soon.

What you don't see in this picture is the girls massive playdoh empire. It is actually located to the left back of the bottom picture. Most days this table is not filled with my projects in the works, rather, it is filled with their playdoh creations.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

That's it. And next week, I promise I will tell you about the upcoming art show. I hope to have a game plan as to how on earth I can set up my table. The last show I did, I strictly was selling wall art. So, this will be a totally different set up.

Oh.. and Happy Easter!

New Painting and Busy.

3 Growing Flowers My newest painting, well.. newest listed in the shop anyway. I am having trouble photographing these... I know I should picture them on a wall, or somewhere to help show their scale. eh.. it's a learning process...I will get there! I am loving painting on wooden boards now, instead of canvas. I love the look and feel of them so much more.

Let's see what else... I went to the dentist this morning, so, that was fun! (NO) Then, the girls, Jack, and I went to the park. Then, we had lunch, and then we walked around the neighborhood trying to find any litter, you know, do our part for earth day...That was fun until Allie picked up something that looked like a piece of a dead mouse.. ok, helping the earth is over - inside to wash hands!

We had a busy week of Easter crafts, dying eggs, and running errands. I got a badly needed haircut and I have been working 'round the clock on building my inventory for my Art show coming up! More on that later!

Wishing you all well!

A Parade, a Carnival and an Art Show.

What a fun weekend! I love this shot because Allison's smiley face was unexpected. I was actually going to get a picture of the Tiger Mascot hugging the girls, but just as I snapped, Allison turned around and had this expression on her face. Pure Joy.

The rest of the week will be rather low key.. hopefully. We are all tired from a busy weekend. I have a Dentist appointment on Thursday, so that is exciting. (I dread the dentist)

And I have an upcoming Art Show to prepare for! It is on May 7th. It will only be me and 9 other artists attending. I am nervous and excited. And I have lots to do to prepare.

Wish me Luck!!

Who screams at the Zoo?

Well, I do apparently. You see this little guy may look sweet enough, but he is not. He was not only asking for food. He was demanding it by backing up 4 or 5 feet and full on running into the wire fence. Scaring me into screaming. The girls, who are much braver and I, were just laughing it off... probably more laughing at Mommy.. because I was acting ridiculous. Let's get out of this area, girls! Let's take no chances! What if he busts his way through...
Oh, Mom, just relax. I am sure he can't get through. Yes, folks, the girls have more sense than I. No, he did not ever bust through. And we had a very nice rest of our day. In fact, it was one of those days that I hope I will never, ever forget.

This was at the Austin Zoo, and we live right near it! It is a rescue zoo. Over 90 percent of their residents have been rescued from unfortunate circumstances. There are former circus animals, monkeys who have spent their entire lives in laboratory research centers, and animals kept inappropriately as pets. The work they do at this zoo is phenomenal and it was a pleasure going. We can't wait to go back!

Our Garden.

I've always wanted a garden. It was always a task too daunting to commit to. But this house came well equipped for me NOT to fail. Rows - ready for seeds/plants - were already lined up with soaker hoses. There are various areas well suited to the needs of different plants - partial shade/full sun/wire fency thingies for your tomatoes to grow on..(let's ignore the fact I called them wire fency thingies -thank you -clearly I am a beginner.)

Deer fencing surrounds the whole area - I wonder if the bunnies will get in here but we didn't plant any carrots so we should be o.k.- wink wink.

There are even a few berry bushes and fruit trees well established - peaches and I think a pear tree - they are still too little for me to tell.

The girls are so excited. They have promised that they will eat all of the veggies that will grow. I will probably be frozen with shock if Allison sits at the table downing a plate of eggplant, but stranger things have happened. Emily is most excited about the cucumbers, she already eats them by the bowlful. If they can like one new vegetable, then mission accomplished.

I will be giving updates on the progress of this - unless it all dies, then I'll probably just lie and say that it is doing great and we are reaping the bounty, and I swear I would show you, but I lost my camera.

: )

Have a Happy Day.

Hi Folks!

I am exhausted to say the least. Just got home from spending the week at our old house. We camped it out there with an air mattress and very little else. The girls had a blast, I now have a bad back. But, this will pass. It really was a fun time.

The girls went to their preschool for a few days while I was extremely busy packing up the rest of the house and giving the house a better cleaning. I am ready to fall into bed, and probably will as soon as I hit "publish post". I look forward to reading your blogs and catching up with you.

I just wanted to leave you with this picture of Emily from a couple of weeks ago.
She loved that ice cream cone. She was just really digging into it, with a smile on her face, not caring that she was dripping all over or where she was dripping.

Next time I eat an ice cream cone, I am going to eat it just like that. With pure abandon.

Bye for now!

A Cheap Seat

Now that we are settling in to living this new life in this new city, I am getting itchy to go somewhere. Perhaps some American Idols Tickets are what I am after. I have missed a couple of episodes here and there. But, I do have a few favorites already. Perhaps, I can drag my hubby and fight the teenage crowd. Well, not literally fight them, well, you know what I mean.

Perhaps some Dancing With the Stars Tickets are more in order. Although, truth be told, I watch that show even less than American Idol. I think I heard something about Wendy Williams being eliminated this week. I was sort of pulling for her. She gets annihilated in the Soup. Do you watch that show? I heart Joel McHale.

Ok, so maybe Dancing with the Stars is a no-go for me. How about some Cirque Du Soleil Tickets? Now, those are more up my alley. High-flying crazy acrobatics. Is it too late for me to train to become one of them? Yup. I am afraid that ship has sailed.

Maybe some Zac Brown Band Tickets would be the way to go. This is a country band if I am correct. Clearly, I do not get out much, but when I do, a toe-tapping good time is called for. Because if Kristin is out past 7:30pm on any given night, it is cause for celebration!

Well, then, maybe we should just kick it way up a notch - Britney Spears Tickets - oh my!
Give me, Give me more, give me more, give me, give me more.
Pure poetry. But Seriously, I won't lie, I have been known to shake what my Momma gave me to some Britney tunes. You really can't help it. They just move you.

Good Night.

Modeling with Emily

The Cuteness is just overflowing.
