The lamp, the zoo, and the crawfish

What a strange blog title, huh?

Well, I finished the lamp last night.. and I was just so excited to take its picture, that I didn't even wait for the sun to come out this morning, so I just used the flash and took its picture. I am so happy with the way it turned out. You know, me and stripes go together like peanut butter and jelly, so of course - it is striped!

And after what seemed like days and day of rain, we finally were greeted with blue skies by mid morning yesterday, so we hopped in the car and headed for the zoo.

Allie loves to feed the animals, but Em - not so much. Emily doesn't want to get the animals "boogers" on her! lol!

Emily likes to chase the peacocks that roam freely.

And one of them put on a show for us.. they are really so so very beautiful. I never tire of them.

Then we came back home and walked around the streams in our yard.. some of them are more like a river with all of this rain we have been getting! One of them was easily 12 feet across in places.. And I found this guy lurking.
Can you see the crawfish?

Some people I bet would have loved to catch him and eat him. But, he is not my kind of eatin'.

Happy Monday!

EDITED TO ADD: Wow! That crawfish is REALLY HARD to see! But, I promise he is there!! ha!

Your lamp is wonderful. I love the zoo too. I have seen many peacocks but I have never had one open his tail feathers in front of me. Wow what a nice show that had to me.

I love how your lamp turned out! I am crazy about stripes, too, so that pattern totally works for me. How fun to get in a zoo trip. I can't wait to go again!

Oh he would have been sooo tasty with some corn, potatoes, about 200 of his brethren, and some good boil spices.

Kiddos need to stop growing. Wow! Amazing how much they grow in a couple years.

Love ya, Kristin!

El is with Em... she does not dig feeding the animals. Freaks her the hell out! lol. Maybe we can do a zoo date if you come up this summer! I've got a membership and some free passes.

BTW, the lamp is absolutely lovely. I'm a sucker for stripes too.

That lamp is fabulous! What a great idea!

A day with the animals and peacocks sounds like fun! I biggified the photo and saw the crawfish. Are those the same things as crawdads? It looks like the crawdads I used to catch as a kid in Kansas.
